When starting this blog we asked you to challenge us (see Challenge Competition) to do something crazy. And YES we received challenges!! As promised, we decided which challenge to perform! “I’ll never drink again”. Raise your hand if you, like us, have said that countless times while fighting a bad hangover. That statement usually lasts until the next weekend where you are out there getting shitfaced again, right?

As a service to you, we have compiled a top 3 list of shots that will seriously challenge that urge to start drinking again. Ever.

3. Flatliner

Ingredients:

2 cl Sambuca
2 cl Tequila
1 tsp Tabasco sauce

Pour the Sambuca first, add the tabasco sauce so it forms a straight line, then add the tequila. The ingredients will be layered with the red line in the middle. It’s pretty, but deadly.

2. Cement Mixer

2 cl Bailey’s
2 cl Lime juice

Drink the shot and remember to mix it round in your mouth before forcing it down your throat. It may not sound so bad, but the the lemon juice curdles the Bailey’s giving it the consistency of cement. Seriously disgusting.

1. Tequila Suicide

2 cl Tequila
Salt
Lime fruit

Snort the salt. Down the shot. Squeeze lemon in your eyes. Die.

The only thing that we can say about this art is WAUW! Art out of coffee stains who would have guessed that? We think her works look amazing and just think about the patience one must have to make this! 

The artist calls herself ‘Red’ and this is what she says about her own work ‘I love to create art. Not with the usual paintbrush and watercolour and pencils though - I like to grab whatever I can get hold of - rocks, ketchup, milk, salt, shirts - and turn them into art. It’s more fun that way!’

Something you need to get done by tomorrow and no later than that?

OK- It’s on!! Being the responsible person that you are, you try to stay up late to get it done. We present the top 10 tips to help you with this “adventure”.

MOTIVATION is the most important thing in terms of keeping awake and working on the project-so guys; lets get started!

1. Take A Shower -It’s very refreshing, gives a good start and will prevent you from smelling like a bumb in the next morning.
2. Sit upright at a table. Never work on a bed, a couch, or on the floor- you will get too comfortable and sleep will take over.
3. Take some time to rest before you jump into your studying. When you come home from class, take at least an hour or so to eat and relax before you brace yourself and jump into the all-nighter.
4. Ask any friends that also have to stay up to join you. Taking little breaks and chatting breaks up the monotony and you can motivate each other.
5. Yummy snacks always help. Avoid fatty and heavy foods. Instead, snack on something light and healthy such as nuts, fruit and yeah, come one- some essential soul food (chocolate).
6. Avoid too much caffeine. Caffeine only works for a short period of time. Drink ice cold water- it will wake you up and will cause you to make more trips to the restroom, which will keep you up and moving.
7. Keep it cool! The room-temperature should be not too warm, as warmth makes you sleepy- therefore study in a colder room or open the window.
8. Get a break every now and then and entertain yourself. Surf the Internet and/or chat online during your breaks. It keeps you relaxed and your mind going. Click HERE to find some short online funny/relaxing breaks. 
9. Play energizing music- if it won’t distract you, most people study better if the music doesn’t contain someone singing- Check for example Paul Kalkbrenner or similar artists to get you going!
10. Set your computer screen to a low (duller/ darker) setting to relax your eyes. Take a break from reading of your computer once a while. 

BUT: When All Else Fails
Ok seriously- when you tried and maybe actually succeeded in pulling it off- you might still not be done in time.. That’s Life! It is (hopefully) only one little paper/ exam and not everything will depend on it.

Wondering what to serve your guests at your pre-party? We found a website called Cooking With Booze which focus on… well cooking with booze..

Try their pioneer recipe: Salmon nests with vodka. Yum :)

Ingredients

• 5 sheets phyllo pastry
• 3 Tbsp (45 mL) melted butter
• 3 Tbsp (45 mL) extra virgin olive oil
• 2 Tbsp (25 mL) fresh lemon juice
• 2 Tbsp (25 mL) vodka
• 2 tsp (10 mL) Worcestershire sauce
• 1/2 tsp (2 mL) cayenne
• 1/2 lb (250 g) thin-sliced smoked salmon, coarsely chopped
• 3 Tbsp (45 mL) red onion, minced
• 1 Tbsp (15 mL) capers
• 1 cup (250 mL) fresh dill, chopped

Method
 

1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Coat 4 medium-sized ramekins (175 mL) or muffin tins with cooking spray or melted butter.
2. Brush each sheet of Phyllo with melted butter and stack one on top of the other. Cut phyllo layers into 4 equal squares and place each stack into a ramekin. Bake for 15 minutes or until edges are golden and pastry is crisp throughout. Remove from oven and place ramekins on rack to cool.
3. In a small bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, vodka, Worcestershire sauce and cayenne. Set aside. In a medium bowl, combine salmon, onion and capers. Add olive oil mixture and dill and toss well to combine.
4. Remove phyllo cups from ramekins. Fill cups with salmon mixture and serve.

So, it’s time to buy your festival-tickets for the summer of 2012! Some of the biggest festivals are already sold out, so hurry up! But then…. How to choose among all the cool festivals in Europe? 

Roskilde Festival, Denmark: is the biggest music festival in the Nothern Europe with 75,000 participants (plus 30,000 volunteers and 20,000 one-day tickets!),8 stages and 9 days of camping - and it’s non-profit! You won’t find the regular pop music here, as rock, indie and electro is the main focus. This year, some of the official band names are Björk, Bruce Springsteen, The Cure and The Roots.

Some special features are the yearly Naked Run (and the winners get free tickets for next year’s festival), the election of Camp of the Year and the Orange Feeling that refers to the big Orange Scene.

Dates: 5.-8. July (Warm up 30. June - 4. July)

Sziget Festival, Hungary: just won the prize of being Best Major European Festival in 2011! That’s really cool! The festival attracted an amazing 350,000 visitors in 2011. If you are tired of concerts, you can play football, try indoor rowing or go to the cinema (which you can do at Roskilde too) or try the famous Hungarian baths in the capital city, Budapest.

The band line up this year includes Korn, Magnetic Man and Placebo so far.

INmusic Festival, Croatia: was rated as one of Europe’s best festivals in 2008 and 2009 by The Times. If you attend, you’ll meet 24,999 other partypeople! The festival is short - only two days, but then you can extend your partying at one of the many holiday resorts you’ll find in Croatia. The music is rather mixed regarding genres, and in 2012 The Cranberries are attending - haven’t we all shouted “Zombie” along with them?!!
